GRANGER - Thomas Daniel Panting, 62, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Friday August 17, 2018 at 5:24pm.Dan was born on January 13, 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Thomas L. and Bernie G. (Marrese) Panting. He moved to the United States in 1964 at the age of 8. Dan graduated from Penn High School in 1975 where he played goalie on the hockey team. Following graduation, Dan followed his father's footsteps and joined the IBEW Local 153 as an electrical apprentice.On August 14, 1982 he married the love of his life Vicki Renee (McLemore) Panting at Don Moyer Church of Christ in South Bend. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Left to cherish his memory along with Vicki are his daughter Amberly Renee (Adam) Bradley of South Bend, his son Thomas Garry (Bethany) Panting of Granger, and his son Nicholas Daniel (Sarah) Panting of Valparaiso, Indiana. Dan is survived by 4 grandchildren, Hunter Michael and Addison Renee Bradley as well as Thomas Daniel and Noah Matthew Panting. Dan is also survived by his mother Bernie G. Panting of South Bend, his sisters Janice I. Panting of Naples, FL, Krisandra-Anne Panting of Naples, FL, Cheryl-Lee McCaffery (Patrick) of South Bend, and a brother Gregory G. Panting of South Bend. Dan is also survived by his Mother in Law, Ollie Dale McLemore of Mishawaka, his brother-in-laws Dennis McLemore of Mishawaka Greg McLemore of Granger and Patrick McCaffery of South Bend. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was an Electrical Contractor and owner of Pan-Mar Electric and Brite Electric, Inc in Granger. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed many trips with his wife to Aruba, Grenada, St. Thomas, the Bahamas, Memphis and Las Vegas. Dan and the family are members of St. Pius X Parish where he enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister to the Sick and Homebound as well as serving for funeral masses. Dan became an American citizen in 2010 and he was an avid golfer and loved going to Notre Dame Hockey Games with his sons where he was a season ticket holder.Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7pm at the McGann Hay Funerals / Cremations / Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd., where there will be a Parish Vigil Service at 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Fir at SR 23, with an additional hour of visitation prior to mass from 9:30-10:30am, with Msgr. William Schooler, Pastor, officiating.
