Veronica “Vonnie” Richards

December 15, 1938 — September 26, 2017

Veronica Mae "Vonnie" Richards, 78, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side, on September 26, 2017.
She was born December 15, 1938 to the late Robert and Katherine (Stephens) Watts. Her husband, Herbert Richards; and two sons, James and Robert Steven Richards, also preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are: her son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Lynne Richards of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Erica Vitale of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Angie Richards of Monterey; and grandchildren: Bridgette, Brittany, John, Dominic, Alessandra, Daron, Josh, Shane, Alex, Olivia, Isabella, James, Veronica and Hailey.
Vonnie was an extremely loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also had a strong devotion to her Lord and Savior and was a long time member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Her faith kept her strong through many trials and tribulations, and she always kept a smile on her face. She had an amazing and witty sense of humor, even with sickness in the hospital. She retired from Kroger as a union steward. She was a Tap and Jazz dancer in the Rockerettes (Elkhart YMCA) and Silver Stars (Debbie Werbroucks); and she was a Cubs fan. She will be greatly missed.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 29, at St. Jude Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 11-1, in the church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Great Lakes Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
