Yvonne Nugent

July 6, 1921 — March 8, 2022

Rose Marie Yvonne Nugent passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8th, with family by her side; she was 100 years young. Yvonne was born July 6, 1921, in Pain Court, Ontario, Canada to DieuDonné and Hélena (Caron) Gagner. She journeyed from Chatham, Ontario, in 1947 to Detroit, Michigan, after becoming a Registered Nurse and worked as such for many years. She worked at Providence Hospital for two years and then moved to Bad Axe, Michigan, in 1949, where she met her husband, Percy Nugent. They were married in 1950, and she continued to work at the local hospital. They maintained their residence in Bad Axe for 49 years and would eventually spend winters in Florida after they retired. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre; she was a sharp player with a fun, competitive spirit. Yvonne was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining and hosting many New Year's and Super Bowl celebrations. She also loved to sing and was often the life of the party. After Percy died in 1999, Yvonne sold the Bad Axe and Florida homes and moved to Granger, Indiana, to be close to family. Never one to be idle, Yvonne kept her home landscaping beautiful and had an incredible garden. She also used her talents to maintain the flowers at Juday Creek Golf Course until she was in her 90's, where she was affectionately known as Grandma. She was an animal lover who would dote on her pets. She had a strong faith in God and was always grateful for her countless blessings. She was a member of St. Pius X Church and enjoyed a great group of senior friends and volunteering there when she was able. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Raoul Gagner, Sister Yvonne (Viola) Gagner, CSJ, Roland Gagner, Sister Eveline Gagner, CSJ, and grandson Daniel Nugent. She is survived by her children, Linda (Mike) Rogers, Don Nugent, Paul (Jane) Nugent, Dave (Tammy Walker) Nugent, Marie (Greg) Fasel, and Chuck (Sally) Nugent, as well as her grandchildren Michelle (Jeff) Wittig, Jackie Pethers, Nick (Rebecca) Nugent, Johnny Nugent, Jamie, Nugent, Jessica Nugent, Jaden Nugent, David (Rhiannon) Nugent, Jr., Candis (Ken) Furst, Warren (Hannah) Parrish, Tim (Allie) Nugent, Mark (Julie) Nugent, and Scott (Kaitlyn) Nugent and many great-grandchildren.
