Founded in 1842 as The Notre Dame Undertaking Parlor, the McGann Family has an over 100 year history serving the Michiana community. The McGann family purchased the business from Notre Dame in 1911.

Today, McGann Hay is the leading funeral and cremation provider in the South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger and Notre Dame area, offering a variety of services at affordable prices. Our cremation service, The American Cremation Society, is the oldest Direct Cremation Society in Indiana.

With four licensed facilities in the area, we serve all of north-central Indiana, including: Elkhart, LaPorte, North Liberty, Lakeville, LaVille, New Carlisle, Wyatt, Mishawaka, and South Bend. Our University Area Chapel is the closest funeral home to the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross Village. Our Granger Chapel is the only funeral home in the Granger/southwestern Michigan area, including: Niles, Edwardsburg, St. Joseph, Benton Harbor and the inland lakes area of Michigan.

With strong ties to the community, we are committed to serving families of all faiths with compassion and dignity. We have four facilities: One on Cleveland Road on the northwest side of South Bend, one in the shadow of the Golden Dome, one near Potawatomi Park, and large dynamic facility in Granger. We provide full funeral and cremation services, as well as specialized services such as green burials and special accommodations for Jewish chevra kadisha practices.
